Domestic Short Hair - Black - Meatloaf - Large - Senior - Male
On October 18th, 2012 I received this email from a very nice gal named Paula:
"A couple of months ago our next door neighbor died. When his adult children came to clean out the house, they just put his two cats outside with the remains of a bag of food, shut the door and left. These cats were their father's darlings, they slept on the bed with him and were dearly loved. They are very sweet house cats. We have been feeding them, and I have tried to find homes for them, but with no success. We would keep them but I am very allergic to cats.
One is black with a white tuft on his chest, the other is an orange tabby. They have both already been injured. Our house backs up to some woods, and I believe that the black one tangled with a possum or raccoon. He had a gash on his head that my husband cleaned up and it is healing well. The orange one disappeared for about a week, and when he came back about a month ago he was limping badly. He is still limping badly. I think one of his back legs was broken, we did not see any blood or bites. He is also very, very thin.
The people who are buying the house have pit bulls, and told my husband that the dogs would eat the cats if they came around. Both cats still go over to their old house to meow at the back door. I do not believe these cats will survive the winter outside. I am hoping that you can help them."
Well you can imagine how upset I was to hear of predicament these two boys found themselves in, so I made quick work of getting them into our program on October 29th. Immediately I fell hopelessly in love with both sweethearts, as they sauntered out of the travel carrier to meet me. I was immediately taken by the gentleness of the magnificent Meatloaf, as I dubbed him, the older of the duo, who was probably born back in the fall of 2003. Loaded with tapeworms and a broken tooth, this fine senior kit-izen is about as lovable as they come. Luckily the injuries he incurred prior to his rescue were minor, but sadly his buddy suffered far more damage to his poor body, having sustained blunt force trauma that obliterated his left hip joint and ruptured his Achilles tendon. Jagger walks with quite the swagger, but doesn't let his injuries limit his movement, which are actually quite smooth...hence his name. This outrageously handsome orange boy was probably born in the fall of 2008 and is absolutely darling, affectionate and awe-inspiring; his physical issues do not slow him down or limit his abilities in the least. Although not blood-brothers, these two share quite a history together, and although it would thrill me to pieces to be able to place them in a home as a duo, it isn't mandatory; as long as they each have a feline friend to cuddle up next to, they will be happy campers. They are fabulous with kids and adults alike, and are quite content to spend their time nestled up next to you, fully equipped to receive and absorb every ounce of love you have to give! I think they deserve it, don't you?
