Mia - In Foster Domestic Shorthair Adult Female in Grand Rapids, Michigan

My story
Mia is a playful young cat who clumsily shows off her hunting skills when you move a wand toy as prey would move. Slither it like a snake or make it fly through the air like a bird to see her in her element.

Although she's not one for snuggling, she likes being close to her person and shows her affection with slow blinks and chatty little mews. If you sit on the floor, she'll rub all over you to ask for petting and then she'll probably even flip over in delight - just don't rub her belly! Mia is curious to find out what's in all your closets, cupboards and drawers. She runs up when you open them, excited to stick her head in and take a look. Mia also enjoys catnip, chasing bouncy balls throughout the house, sunbathing in windowsills, and being brushed. With a proper introduction, Mia should do well with other cats. In her foster home, she currently cohabitates with three of them. She often tries to engage them in play by doing a kittenish sideways shuffle as they walk past her. She'd probably love to share her new home with another active feline. We hate to use the word "skittish" but the definition being "easily frightened or marked by extreme caution" fits Mia well. She has a strong sense of stranger danger. In a new environment, she seems to think there's a monster hiding around every corner. She needs someone who can empathize with her apprehension. Someone who will give her time to settle in while celebrating the small victories as she learns to trust. The phrase "good things come to those who wait" fits Mia well too. This cute, goofy girl is a "good thing" who will win your heart as you build a relationship with her.
